Wildlife You'll Encounter

Tanzania is home to 20% of Africa's large mammal population. Every game drive tells a different story.

✦ Did you know: Elephants can sense water underground from 19 km away

The world's fastest land animal, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 3 seconds. Witnessing a cheetah hunt in the Serengeti is pure raw nature.

Black Rhinoceros

Among the rarest sightings on any safari, the black rhino is most reliably found in Ngorongoro Crater — a privilege only a skilled guide can provide.

✦ Did you know: Fewer than 5,000 black rhinos exist in the wild
Giraffe

Lives Changed by Tanzania

"Words cannot describe what we experienced. Our guide knew exactly where the lion pride would be at dawn. We sat 20 meters from a lioness and her cubs for over an hour. This was the greatest day of our lives."
